Luke

Yer man there is Luke, he's 16 and today he heads to Australia.  He's my mate Leesa's son and today he's going to Australia.  To live.  Forever.  Only coming back here for visits.  He babysat my kids and once remarked he was so impressed with the gaming setup and dvd collection that really he should be paying us.  He never did though.  Have you ever come across a kid whom you want your own kids to turn out like?  Well I want my kids to be like Luke.  He's good natured, sweet, funny and genuine.  Of course, I know from Leesa and Graham that he can be a moody bollix, he pretends he hasn't has a drink when he has etc. which bascially means he's your average teenager.  And now he's going to Oz.  Went over to wish him a good trip, took one look at him and started crying?!  Cried even more when I got home and opened the card and present he'd bought me.  Good God.  Am I going to be like this until the rest of the McCanns head off?    7 weeks until Leesa and Graham and Ella and Izbiz and Tilly (who'll be delighted to see the back of me - least I think she will as she howls every time she sees me) go to Melbourne.
Aaagh, isn't it shite that whilst  you're delighted for your friends and thrilled at the very idea of the adventure they're about to head off on you're absolutely gutted for yourself?  When is it going to get through to me that life is constantly changing and evolving?  When, more importatnly, will I stop trying to fight it?
Luke.  Have a wonderful life.  See you on Facebook.  See you when you come home to visit and see if you can talk your ma and da into getting a big enough house that me and the other Geraghtys can come and stay in a couple of years - for a couple of weeks!!!  Love you, be happy and continue to believe you're wonderful.
p.s. Arthur said 'I'm going to miss Luke when he goes'.  'For a few days.'
