Yan Tan Tethera. This is what I shall be calling sons no. 1, 3 and 3 from now on. We had friends over for dinner last night and one of them, Chris, is from ooop north in England, from around Cumbria and the Lakes. He was telling us about a dictionary of Cumbrian Slang that we should look up but told me that 'one, two, three' is yan, tan, tethera. I've looked it up and this is how shepards used to count their sheep. Isn't it fabulous. So, Harry is Yan, Oscar is Tan and the light of my life (Arthur) is Tethera.

Had a gander at the slang, it was massive. Though I thought that gawk also ment "to look at". lol
